The West Leeds Men's Network is a project designed to help combat isolation amongst men in the Armley and Bramley area's of the city.

Who is the service for?

It is now being delivered as part of the Being You Leeds service, that provides groups, activities and training and awareness sessions for community wellbeing across Leeds.

From 2014 to 2023. the Network ran social groups, where members met to share conversation over a cup of tea and a biscuit. During the groups, we also played games, quizzes, had guest visitors or group outings. The aim is to help men who have difficulties forming and building social connections to learn communication skills, build confidence and become more socially connected.

Listen to what our group members said about The West Leeds Men's Network:

Original song writing and music group

Formed in October 2022, The West Leeds Men's Network Music Group meet weekly at Broadlea Community Centre, Bramley.

The Music Group was set up with the aim of writing and recording original songs, which they achieved in June 2023 by recording their first song together after 9 months of practising and writing. Their music features messages of hope and unity in a time when there is so much division in the world.

"My confidence, self esteem and self awareness have all improved. I now have a more solid and structured week which is necessary in keeping on top of my mental health condition."
